Enterprise mobility

‘Enterprise mobility’ describes the process whereby mobile apps and devices are used in a corporate environment to automate and improve business processes. We use this term to describe the creation of a digital ecosystem for managing people and processes within a business, and thereby delivering greater efficiency and profitability to that business. You can read our in our more detailed primer on enterprise mobility.
No, JourneyApps does not build consumer apps. We focus exclusively on enterprise mobility, which means we build apps for companies and organizations that focus on their business processes. The best way to understand what we do, is to take a look at some of our case studies. They showcase what we mean when we talk about apps ‘for your business’ – solutions that improve and enhance the way your business, and employees within your business, operate.
JourneyApps does not build ERP or CRM systems, nor do our apps replace them. Instead, JourneyApps extends the functionality of your existing ERP or CRM system, complementing it with a robust mobile app with cutting-edge functionality, extending your visibility wherever your business goes.

Functionality

Yes. Our experience has taught us that business processes change continuously, which is why we’ve designed our mobile solutions to be adaptable as needs and use cases change. We can make the changes you need, fast, and the best part is that they fall under our flat rate cost structure so you won’t be charged extra.
Yes. Every app we create comes with offline functionality as standard. This means that the app will work even when connectivity is limited or non-existent, caching data to be uploaded as soon as the data connection is restored.
Photos, yes, but videos, no. The functionality to take a photo can be added to any part of your app. However, we have specifically decided not to incorporate videos because of their size, and therefore the amount of mobile data they consume and the time they take to upload. This approach has been borne out in our experience, where we have effectively used a combination of photographs and text input to convey the same information a video would have delivered.
No. We do not support character recognition because it’s a function that uses a significant amount of is heavy on processing power, and is therefore something that many mobile devices were not designed to handle. Because of this, dramatically reduced battery life would be another consequence of character recognition. We recommend performing this function on a desktop or server, once photos of the relevant documents have been uploaded by the app user.

Cost

This will depend on the problem that you need it to solve, and how the app does that. The JourneyApps team is very experienced in designing mobile solutions for companies of different sizes across sectors, which means that we can give you expert guidance on cost. We start by gaining a solid understanding of your business and the process that needs to be addressed. From there, we decide the cost based on the complexity of the solution. Our inclusive, flat-rate cost structure and our commitment not to lock our clients into any long-term contracts limits your risk and ensures your costs are predictable and stable from day one. We work on a rapid prototyping model of delivery. For the majority of apps, this means we focus on rapidly developing a working prototype, which we then iterate and refine. Our flexible commercial terms likewise reflect our philosophy of agility, flexibility and iteration. While we focus on building long-term solutions, if you only want a prototype to test and not a longer term solution, contact us and we will assess your need case on an individual basis.

User Experience & Usability

Yes. It’s one of the advantages of switching from a paper-based process to a mobile app – you can ensure each step within a process is fulfilled by your employees in order to move on to the next one. This helps ensure that fields aren’t left blank, data isn’t left out, and your staff is held to a high standard of detail in their work.
Yes! Our apps can be custom-branded and can be themed according to your choice of colours. Click here to see an example of our general look and feel.

Integration

We build the app first, before integration, which allows us to know exactly how and where we’ll need to integrate it with your ERP or CRM system. While your app is being built, we’ll learn about your architecture and integration requirements, so that as soon as the app is complete, integration can be addressed smoothly and coherently. While integration times do vary – depending on which ERP system you’re using, and its individual instance – it is typically delivered in a time period similar to that of app development, which is itself typically within a month.

Data integrity & validity

Every app we build has data validation technology built into it, customized to your needs. This means that, for example, users will not be able to progress to the next step of the process if they have left mandatory fields empty, or if elements such as number strings or email addresses are invalid. You can determine both the strictness of validity exceptions, and the parameters for input fields.

Support

JourneyApps provides full, continuous support as part of our standard base fee. While standard support guarantees 99% uptime, Premium Support that guarantees 99.9% uptime is also available, with rapid response and resolution times, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s a tried and tested service that won’t let you down, is always available, and will never leave you languishing with a technical issue and no idea how it’s being resolved.
