Get valuable insights with Power BI and SQL database access

We’ve added platform-level integrations with Power BI, expanding the capabilities of our Insights Engine. Your apps can now have embedded dashboards allowing you to analyze data generated by your solution in the office or on the move. In addition, we’ve added support for exposing app data in SQL format so that customers can leverage existing data analysis tools. At our typical customer, our apps generate millions of dollars in ROI — understand how to increase your ROI with better insights.

Look at our beautiful new high-contrast Dark Theme

We’ve released a beautiful new dark theme. It has a higher contrast than our light theme which is perfect for industrial workplaces or if users work in other low-light environments. Along with our dark theme we have also expanded the ways that apps can be branded. You may have noticed that we made numerous visual and usability updates to how apps look and feel too — please let us know what you think!

Always keeping your apps under lock and key with additional enterprise-grade security improvements

  • We completed a SOC 2 Type 1 audit in late 2018, confirming that JourneyApps follows industry best security practices.
  • Like every year before it, our external penetration testing by NCC Group confirmed that the JourneyApps Platform is secure when measured at the highest standards.
  • Additionally, we implemented database encryption for the Windows JourneyApps Container, which means that all supported platforms’ data are protected in use.
  • We’ve also included the option for your app’s source code to be encrypted to bolster protection of your apps in certain use cases.
  • Our promise is to do everything we can to keep your data and IP safe, and our platform and controls are in place to keep that promise.

Other New Features and Improvements

It would take 50 of these emails to relay all the improvements and additions to the JourneyApps Platform in a year, but here’s what we think are a few of the game changers:

  • Our Integration Engine has been extended so that we’re able to build Custom APIs based on our serverless integration architecture. This is ideal for integrations with customers or other related parties.
  • The new Photo Annotation component allows users to mark up the pictures that they took or uploaded to their apps.
  • Our new Gantt Chart component has been making a huge impact on project management based use cases.
  • We’ve updated our Document Automation Engine to be able to create PowerPoint slide shows. Don’t forget that you can already create Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PDF reports using app data.
  • The Multiple File Uploader is saving users lots of time when they need to upload many files at the same time as part of their work.
  • Our new Scheduling Component is a powerful calendar-based UI component that helps when a user or process has fixed jobs during their day.
  • Tables have become even more powerful with incredible formatting capabilities, and the ability to edit the table contents. Editable tables give you the same powerful validation and business logic control that you’ve become accustomed to in our apps — take that, spreadsheets!
  • We added language support for Swedish, Portuguese and Japanese.

What We’re Working On

We’re always excited about the future of our platform and what that means for customers. Here’s what we’re working on right now:

  • We’re working on innovative ways that customers can benefit from the explosion of innovation in the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence space. One area of particular focus is Optical Character Recognition, where users can automatically digitize filled out paper forms and use that data to continue in their app. The opportunities in this space are boundless and we look forward to announcing new features.
  • Our Editable Tables have proven that tables can be much more than “just” tables. They can unlock tremendous efficiency gains in apps, and they also serve as quick “micro-dashboards” for seeing whether some orders, repairs, or tasks need your attention. Q1 2019 will see many more improvements to our Tables, including the ability to freeze columns, smarter filters, grouped rows and many other powerful features.
  • 2018 saw an explosion in the amount of UI components available for use in our solutions. This year will be focused on even more innovation in UI components, focused on solving real-world problems in enterprise applications.

And that’s it! We’re incredibly thankful for your continued support, and we wish you a very fruitful 2019.
